How do I download my iphoto library from an external hard drive to the Yosemite Photos App?
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
Launch Photos with the Option key held down, click on Other Library, and choose it. Alternatively, drag the library to the Photos icon in the Dock.

Thanks Niel, For some reason it keeps freezing and reporting an error after about 19% of downloading. I think I will try putting Mountain Lion on my computer and sticking with iPhotos. I know that on my laptop my external drive shows up with all the pictures. Thanks again
How is the external HD formatted? It must be OS X Extended (journaled) for Photos to work.
How do I do the opposite, how to I remove photos from iPhotos iCloud and put them full resolution onto my external hard drive?
